Fish and Fisheries review on hybridisation in marine fish out in final version

9 Jan 2024

A new review, coordinated by Carmelo, on the topic of hybridisation in marine fish is finally out in its final published version in Fish and Fisheries and it has been included in the first 2024 issue of the journal.

The review is published open access and focuses on pelagic and deep water fish. We argue that hybridisation in these fish may be under-detected compared to coastal and shallow-water fish. We discuss why this may be problematic (as pelagic and deep water fish are often of interest for commercial fisheries) and how the situation may be ameliorated, including with the involvement of researchers working on fisheries.
