The lab presenting at UZI 2026

Work from the lab has been recently presented at the 2026 congress of the Italian Zoological Union, held in Milan as a joint congress between UZI and the Italian Society of Protistology.

Carmelo gave a talk entitled “Shared history, divergent paths: lineage-specific drivers of macroevolutionary diversification in dragonflies (Odonata, Anisoptera)”, co-authored with Sebastiano Battaglia and Iker Irisarri. The talk presented results from Sebastiano’s PhD on how the factors associated with diversification differ among major dragonfly lineages which could not be presented by Sebastiano himself as he is currently in the Netherlands for data collection.

During the congress, Carmelo also briefly presented next year’s UZI congress, which will be held in Catania and which he will also co-organize.
